I am opening this new thread based on what I saw at Operation Enola Gay (organized by ADSTER) during the Araw ng Davao. Got a good view from the announcers booth.
Although there were lots of misunderstanding, discontentment and loopholes in the game rules, I still congratulate ADSTER for having a job well done.
How about making a common Mindanao-wide Airsoft Tournament Rules and Regulations? Let's start with
suggestions from SWAT DAVAO. Because you guys have the most entries in Operation Enola Gay.
I'll start with the inputs.
1. The organizer forgot about AEG basic rules and safety. In fact they got an ADSTER staff hurt near her eye by a pellet from an irresponsible participant. It was during the night shootout somebody got frustrated. He/She sprayed the insertion area from the game area towards the camp site. The pellet penetrated the laminated sack or netting and hit her face. ouch...
AEG's should have no magazines inserted except within the game area (during play) or in their respective camp sites (or tents/sheds). Indiscriminated firing should have a penalty of Team Disqualification from the event.
2. Different color tags for High End and Low End Chronograph tests. This would be easier for the Staging Area Marshalls to regulate High End Guns from joining the Low End Games.
3. Reversible yellow/red upper arm tags with velcro lock should be used by the organizer. Each tag should have a corresponding number for easy recognition and casualty calls.
4. If possible each game marshall should be individually equipped with a megaphone, whistle, and foul cards (yellow & red - discourage rude players) for efficient signaling. Enough protective apparel should be provided for imbedded marshalls to prevent running away from the game. Fluorescent colors should be encouraged for easy recognition.
5. The marshalls should be briefed on how to decide casualty calls.
a) face to face shootout (simultaneous firing or
a retalitaion within 0.5 sec) = both players out.
b) side or back shooting (retaliation is
reactionary over 0.5 sec) = only one player out.
c) spray shooting at group = player covered by
his companions should remain alive
6. Yellow & Red Card System should be
implemented to prevent players from
influencing the marshall's decisions.
7. Double perimeter with controlled entrance at the
Staging Areas for AEG chrono tag check up by the
Staging Area Marshalls.
8. Doorways should not be covered by flap-type
doors.
9. Objective areas should not be walled by "amakan sheets". Peeping depends upon the mission specifications. The minumum height of obstacles should be 6 feet should be implemented for maximum CQB experience. If so, at least two (2) Marshall towers should be made out of scaffolding should be used.
10. Obstacles should be anchored deep enough to prevent from collapsing.
11. The eliminating system should be bullet proof to prevent arguments.
12. Tranparency in the Marshall's organization for fair judgement. Rules should be fixed to who will end a stalemate during conflicting calls.
All game scenarios should be agreed beforehand like th game time is over with equal numbers of opposing players that are still alive.
13. Shortening or modification of Rifle/SMG parts that are not applicable in real weapons should not be tolerated. One example is cutting off recoil tubes for M-16 carbines.
14. Casualties declared should stand up, raise their AEG above their heads and move immediately to the SIDE exits. They will then remove their magazines and dry fire their AEG to the ground undr the supervision of a marshall. Any magazine or AEG left at the game area should be recovered after the game ends.
15. Players with defective AEG, no pellet , dead/weak battery should not be declared as immediate casualty. They should not borrow or steal an AEG but can still proceed with the mission.
16. Knife kills should be allowed which is symbolized by the touching of the opponents shoulder or back with his PALM. Excessive slapping is a foul.
Well, these are some of my inputs for Operation Enola Gay.
I hope all Mindanao Airsoft Groups can sit down and discuss this for the convenience of the players, spectators, security and organizers. It would be best if SWAT DAVAO will take the initiative.
More Power to you SWAT DAVAO !!!
